Stay on top of your game and make a good start to the new year! I think these three books might help tremendously.
Book #1: Dream Teams and the Science of Breakthrough Collaborations
by Shane Snow
Not often highlighted is the fact that small amounts of cognitive friction can stimulate discussion and ideas. Snow tells us how, as it is a fine line. Another essential learning point is the importance of changing group dynamics, even of a “winning team”. Snow also reminds us of that ideas that appear bad at first, are often the ones with the biggest potential to leading us to new and useful solutions. A big plus to the author for stressing the importance of intellectual humility and how it can make you more receptive to new ideas. The book is full of useful examples from a range of industries.
Book #2: The Employee experience Advantage by Jacob Morgan
The main theme in this book is how to create a work environment that nurtures talent. In comparison with other authors in the same sphere, Morgan shows how also the physical work spaces needs to be taken into account. These physical environments need to inspire creativity. One of the best take home messages is that if you want to boost employee motivation, you need to build purpose driven environment, that encourages trying and failing. He points to experiential organizations also enjoying greater financial success than their competitors.
Book #3: What Great Brands Do by Denise Lee Yohn
Lee Yohn dives into something we all would like to know; how a brand can remain influential and secure its position. She is one of the few scholars I have come across that places great emphasis on the fact that the corporate culture is your brand´s foundation; it´s just as important as the people inside a company. Another great learning point is how great brands build an emotional connection with customers, and stand out by supporting projects that are relevant to them. Another great point is how she stresses that trying to appeal to everyone compromises your brand´s integrity.
